Secondary Target Audience Work

A target audience is the people who you believe would enjoy and consume your media product, with this in mind it becomes obvious how a persons success in acquiring the correct target audience means to a media producer and how it can make or break the Media chance of success.

So we need a target audience, which is found using triangulation across primary and secondary data to acquire our audience, secondary data has brought me to this summery,

"Los Angeles, New York and Chicago in the U.S.
I would say that many indie bands are after the late teen and 20 something demo. A little beyond the MTV years. The more pop you go the younger you go. As people get a little older (at least ones that would get into indie rock) they start to explore things more. Dig a little deeper.
Although now-a-days with the information age being what it is and the changes it has had on distribution what is indie rock anyways"?

Then this was found that highlights the target audience of an alternate rock video.

Target Audience of Indie Rock music magazines

This now suggests the target audience are White males, aged 16-24, working class or in education, their interests include;

  • Music
  • Playing music
  • Photography
  • Dressing up
  • Gigs/Concerts
  • Smoking
  • Online Social Media
This could indicate the 'hipster' subculture. Their dress sense includes

  • Suits
  • Shorts
  • Jeans
  • Baggy clothes
  • Old Vintage Clothing Etc.
This seems very typical of our genre's target audience.
