Digipak advertisement drafts
This is our first draft of the advertisement with the background of the cosmos picture below, this picture has the connotations of a happy side and a sad side, the full petaled daisy is the happy side also known as the mask or, if you pardon the pun, the cover, as this is our digipak cover but the link is there. The other side is a de-petaled flower which is the back cover of our digipak but it shows the feelings behind the cover or mask which is a melancholic feel as it is not as pretty and the petals are flowing through space surrounded by an endless void, however the pretty purple also works as mask to enshroud the bad feelings which amplifies the feel of album. This was the most favoured design out of the two.
This design was the least favoured of the two as it seemed to lack an amplification of the album feel as much as the other one did. This one is a big picture of a daisy used to show the album name, (Daisies of the Galaxy), however this lacked enough connotations and the other had more brand identity than this one although this one did also have the cosmos picture that the other one had as this one is the inside cover which is harder to establish unless you have actually bought the album and remember the inside where if you do not know the album it can be used to recognize it in shops or online such as on ITunes or HMV.
This is the two idea and the cosmos picture that will be used as a background.
Video Feedback
Here we have our evaluation of our video, After showing the video a range of problems and tweaks were suggested, these include;
- We took to long on the clips with the guitarist.
- We needed to 'sharpen up' parts of the video so it cuts when it fits the song and video
- Parts of the video lacked clarity, some parts needed a small portion of a reminder in order to understand the flux of the timeline in the video and song.
- Some parts had not been edited in correctly yet so we had to explain what is to go there and why.
- Most connotations were understood and explained well but some had to be reinforced with visual and audio stimuli.
- The video and song where contrasting, creating irony, which was loved by our target audience so it appealed to them.
- the editing where it switched between two people was inventive and original.
- The idea of tragedy was creative.
This was the feedback we got from the lower years which highlighted an aspect of understanding. They did not appear to understand the video, and that they were confused by some parts so perhaps a better look at the video by fresh eyes has shown what needs to be redone and the clarity needs more work.

Making the Poster
We started with having the daisies again and to show the connotations of the whole flower and the ruined flower, so we show two sides the right is the mask and the left is the true side of the feelings making an allusion to the video and the rest of the video. We used the purple cosmos picture in order to infer brand identity.
We added the release date "out now" and the text of the name of the artist and of the album name with a small picture of the CD's front cover.
We then added extra information which is a convention of magazine advertisements, such as the website address and the parental advisory logo that we needed to place into it
Making the Digipak
we had decided on a space background as it represent the name of the album "Daises of the Galaxy", So we decided to use a purple cosmos as a way of showing pretty, appealing colours to show a happy atmosphere but mixed with black to connote a darker side, such as the idea our video invokes in the audience watching it. So we represented the target audience by doing this as the irony of happy colours in a dark atmosphere appeals to the target audience but the signifier of the happy colours masking the dark atmosphere is the real winner in terms of gaining an audience as most people of our target audience being the age of 14 - 21 will use music as a way of dealing with their problems and love to identify with the music or the artist which our digipak enables due to the masking connotation.
the next stage is to fill in the digipak, we decided to place the earth on the front cover with daisy petals around it and on the back place the petals leaving the flower and falling through the void of space, this was designed to say the happiness on the front is a mask or indeed a "cover" as a double entendre, to hide the misery that's behind it, hence the petals floating through the empty void of space.
The disk space was a big daisy, again to reinforce the album title.
The inside was a tribute to the video we made as we have stills of the video. A bar code and parental advisory warning had to be placed into the digipak to add to the realism of the digipak.
We then added the tracks album and artist name and legal stuff on the back so we have finished to digipak, the purple font is to go with the background and follow the purple connotations of happy colour sad atmosphere. The Font also follows this connotation.

Brand Identity
The outward expression of a brand – including its name, trademark, communications, and visual appearance – is brand identity.
Because the identity is assembled by the brand owner, it reflects how the owner wants the consumer to perceive the brand – and by extension the branded company, organization, product or service.
This is in contrast to the brand image, which is a customer's mental picture of a brand. The brand owner will seek to bridge the gap between the brand image and the brand identity.
An example of brand identity is the Kings Of Leon's only by the night.
The Magazine advert (Left) and the CD cover (Right), are both the same album and artist, and have brand identity in many ways;

The Magazine advert (Left) and the CD cover (Right), are both the same album and artist, and have brand identity in many ways;
- The image is the same. The image has the same connotations and you can easily tell that that advert is for this CD.
- The Font is the same, although the colours are different they still have the underscores and the "more than" sign that is included in both the CD and the advert.
- The colour scheme is basically the same. A green and black colour scheme is used again helping you understand what the magazine is advertising.
- Although the most obvious one the album name and artist name have been placed on both of them, this is the most basic way of brand recognition and brand identity.

Job Roles
Job roles include, Director, Co-director, Camera Operator and editor
A Directors job is typically overseeing and managing all functions in a specific area or department. So in media this would entail managing all stages of a media products life, editing, filming sound etc. The director in this case would be Lara and I as Co-Director.
A Camera operator's job is obviously operating the camera, getting the right shots, being aware of the usability of the shots i.e. looking out for continuity errors and other problems in the shot.
The Camera operator would be Me for this project.
And Editor's job is to obviously edit the footage together to make the final product, The job entails making sure the footage is fluent in all areas such as continuity any problems in camera or sound must be corrected in this stage, editing must also prune out the bad takes and select only the best parts.

The orphan boy
Jarad dawson will play the little boy who is playing happily in the kitchen until a call comes through to his mother, she will inform him of the unfortunate circumstances of his father, he will rush to the house where he resides, to reviel the room to us all, lying in the bed will be his dead father, he will cry uncontrollably to which he will stand up as a different person, the person will be almost revieled but a flash leaving more enigma will occur. later you see it is actually the singer who has lost his father but he has grown older and colder to the world.
Freya and Jade, The little teenage girl.
The girl with the curls and the sweet pink ribbon in her hair
She's crawling out her window 'cause her daddy
He just don't care
Come on
She's crawling out her window 'cause her daddy
He just don't care
Come on
This verse makes referance to a little girl (Freya Clarke) who has difficulty at home from what we interprited as bad parenting and even domestic violence and neglect. (This image is one we aim to represent).
She will be returning from school with her backpack on and go into her house, She will enter to find her parents arguing in rage as she runs away from the fighting and upstairs into the bathroom, as she takes a long look at herself she sees her new older self in her reflection as her reflection upon herself and her life take over and the younger innocent girl is trapped in the older girls relection then back to her younger self, she decides to jump, after she jumps a flash is placed and enigma is left in the video until later where you find out that she landed as a teenage girl, which is to connote the life she has fallen through and not been brought up through.When she lands she is picked up by 'the one' who helps her ups and walks away with her to live together.

Lewis the Clown
The Clown with a frown
Drivin' down to the sidewalk fair
Finger on the trigger
let me tell you
it was quite a scare.
This verse makes referance to a Clown (Lewis Hodson), who in our mind is exhausted by his life and daily rutines to the point of suicide (Finger on the trigger), so we begin the filming of this scene with A clown in a suit with a bright poka-dotted tie and a frizzy red wig.

The reason he is in a suit is to portray a sad clown thats different
from the others like this. Using this he will open a job application form that has been denied, showing his resentment for his job now and so wishes to move on but he can't (Clown with a frown).
He will proceed to drive away until he reaches a point where his fuel gauge reaches empty and he will take an unknown object out of the glove box and proceed to walk into the woods (sidewalk fair) He will then reveal he is holding a gun and proceed to place it in his mouth, it will then flash as to leave enigma to what happened next.
